Here is my submission for a comic page contest held on CBR this week.
There were some great ones, good and bad ones too.
I'll let you be the judge of where mine falls.
I like my use of grey tones,
and I think the storytelling is clear.

Here's the page synopsis:

PAGE 6

1) The Killer FIRES right at us with the other Uzi; a deep perspective, in-yer-face image –

KILLER
EAT IT!

2) Batman DIVES through a narrow serving hatch which leads from the back of the living room into the kitchen; the trail of bullet impacts tracks him relentlessly –

3) Over the shoulder shot. The Killer aims into the darkened, open doorway of the kitchen. Blackness within.

KILLER
THAT’S RIGHT, FREAK! YOU BETTER HIDE!

4) Same angle. The Killer swings the weapon to the right, now aiming through the open bedroom doorway – straight at the BABY GIRL, who stands in her cot, watching quietly, oblivious as to what’s about to happen…

BABY
(jagged)
WAAAAAH!

KILLER
NOW THEN. WHERE AS I… ?

5) The Killer FIRES – just as Batman SWINGS IN from the kitchen door-frame, KICKING the Uzi aside! It fires wild, up and away –

6) Batman delivers a powerful and precise STRAIGHT-LEG KICK, his body tilted back to line up perfectly along the line of force, delivering every foot-pound of pressure straight into the Killer’s abdomen. This is the best Iron Man comic I've ever read.
And I've read a few.
For $ 2.99 you get a great jumping on point
for Tony Stark's adventures in 2011.
Not to mention the best retelling of a character's history I've ever encountered.
All told through an AA meeting.
Sound boring?
It's not.

Comic Movie Update

So, it looks like Marvel films are back on the ball.
Here are some official released images from some upcoming films.

Let the bitching begin.
Yeah the costume's different,
but I think that the tone for this pic is surprising and makes me have
hope for the finished product.
Plus, Garfield looks like a great Spidey.
You can't go wrong echoing the cover of ASM # 50 as well.

Now the Captain America image clearly takes its inspiration from the Ultimates comic.
I think the costume looks great, but all the costume shots so far have a cheapness to them,
like maybe the lighting or material isn't right.
I will be a little harsher on this flick, because I've been looking forward to it my whole life!
That being said, I hope the film is more Ultimate Cap in character and tone.

Finally, this Thor newly released image looks great.
Just like the Cap movie,
I'm not sure of the tone of the film yet.
It could be good, or a bit of a miss.
But in this pic, Thor is definitely bringing the pain.
I want to see more pics of Thor in the helmet!

It was cool to see the Thor movie poster at my local Empire theatre in Victoria, BC last night.
My inner nerd came out, and I snapped a pic.
And the movie we saw was pretty damn good.
It was called The Fighter,
and Christian Bale will win Best Supporting actor at the Oscars next year.
Seriously, his performance was that good.

Jon Favreau announced the other day that he will not be making Iron Man 3!?!
What the hell, man.
While Iron man 2 was flawed, it paved the way for the tone and feel of a Marvel shared universe on film.
He will be making the "Magic Kingdom" for Disney instead.
Unless this was his lifelong dream all along, it's really too bad.
Let's hope he stays on in some capacity so Iron Man 3 doesn't feel like a bad afterthought.
Marvel, it's time to pick up the pieces.
You're on a roll for setting up your movie world.
Don't fuck it up.

Mostly known for The Empire Strikes Back — the best Star Wars flick — Kershner’s resume included Never Say Never Again and Robocop 2.

He was 70 years old.

Winnipeg lost to Toronto 36-34 last night.

They came out of the gate strong the last game,

but let's hope we're not back to mediocrity again.

It was a close game anyways,
